Commonly Asked Questions

SensFloor® by SYNO Global is an easy to implement, revolutionary technology that is adding unique value across a range of sectors. Find answers to a range of commonly asked questions regarding our sensor floor technology.

Does SYNO Global provide SensFloor installation including flooring overlays?

Yes. SYNO Global can provide a complete turnkey solution for SensFloor® by SYNO Global installation which includes zone preparation, installation and large selection of flooring overlays from our preferred partners.

How hard is SensFloor to install?

The installation process has been streamlined to accommodate a complete range on industries (https://syno.global/industries/). In brief, the installation process involves zone measurement, pre-paring the sub-surface, installing underlay panels, installing preferred overlay panels, completing connectivity and product training. As part of our service, we provide complete end-to-end project management and product support including flooring installation with a wide range of flooring overlay options.

How does SensFloor detect movement?

SensFloor® by SYNO Global does not use pressure sensors but rather measures changes in capacitance (which is a detected change in an electrically charged system). This in return can tell the system where movement is being detected. Using the combination of hardware and software, we can then interpret this measurements and calculate location, speed and other analytical data points.

Does SensFloor detect falls?

Yes, SensFloor® by SYNO Global utilises intelligent software algorithms to detect when a fall has occurred. This in return can create patient alarms, support worker alerts and many other events.

Do I have organize electronics into the walls or skirting boards of each zone?

No. SensFloor® by SYNO Global has been designed to minimise cabling and electronic requirement. In fact our solution is the only technology on the market where the electronics have been built into the underlay, unlike other systems where wiring and electronics require installation into skirting boards.

Can SensFloor work within bathrooms?

SensFloor® by SYNO Global is the only solution available on the market that can be installed within bathroom environment without requiring a separate sensor system or special hardware. SensFloor® by SYNO Global can also detect movement, falls and spills within bathroom environments or zones exposed to moisture.

Are there any limitations to the size of the facility or zones that SensFloor can work in?

No, SensFloor by SYNO Global has been designed to work in large facilities and unique floor plans. Within large facilities, areas are broken up into zones (which could be a room or open space). Theses zones report back to our smart zone controller which provides a real-time view of activity occurring within that zone.

Does SensFloor record movement history and falls?

Yes. SensFloor® by SYNO Global records all movement and alerting history which is ideal for shift hand-over, patient diagnosis , review and activity. With our intuitive software solution, you can select the date and time ranges to review historical information.

Can we view live room movement on tablet computers?

Yes, SensFloor® by SYNO Global can be viewed on smart devices including tablet computers. You access live zone information via our responsive built website that provide detailed analytics including movement, fall and spills.

What happens if SensFloor were to malfunction and needs to be replaced?

SensFloor® by SYNO Global is the only flooring solution that is modular based. It allows easy replacement by removing the malfunctioning section – not the entire floor. With today’s modern flooring overlays, this is achievable with minimum effort.

Can SensFloor work with other systems like nurse call systems?

Yes. SensFloor® by SYNO Global can integrate with existing systems such as a nurse call system and lighting systems. SensFloor® by SYNO Global also includes a robust API for customised software and automation projects.

Are we limited by the types of flooring overlays that are compatible with SensFloor?

No, SensFloor by SYNO Global is the first technology to function under a complete range of flooring solutions found in today’s modern facilities. This includes, but not limited to, tiles, carpet, parquet and laminate. This includes installation within rooms that are exposed to wet surfaces such as bathrooms, toilets and laundries.

I have read that SensFloor operates on a dedicated wireless connection, what does this mean and will it interfere with medical equipment?

SensFloor® by SYNO Global operates on a dedicated low frequency wireless signal that has been registered and approved with the ACMA. The wireless frequency will not interfere with existing or new medical equipment.
